The 2026 edition of the annual Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru Ramadan Lecture Series across the 16 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos East Senatorial District has officially commenced, beginning with spiritually uplifting gatherings in Kosofe LGA and Ikorodu West LCDA.
The well-attended lecture series kicked off at Araromi Central Mosque, Gbagada, Lagos, on Wednesday, before moving to Ebute Iga Central Mosque, Ebute, Ikorodu West LCDA, on Thursday.
In both locations, members of the Muslim Ummah gathered in large numbers for soul-refreshing tafsir sessions, marking the continuation of a programme that has become a significant feature of Ramadan in Lagos East since 2025.

Convened in Kosofe under the leadership of the Chief Imam, Sheikh Modiu Olundegun, the lecture brought together notable Islamic clerics, guest lecturers, political and community leaders, and the muslim faithful. The theme of the lecture, “Obedience to Authority and Respect for All Faiths,” resonated deeply with attendees, particularly within the context of the holy month of Ramadan.
The central message emphasised the importance of obedience to both spiritual and civic authority, while also promoting peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony.
Speakers underscored that Ramadan is not only a period of fasting and devotion but also a time for moral reflection and recommitment to values that strengthen society.

“When leadership, whether spiritual or civic, is respected and promotes a culture of love and mutual regard, it creates a stable foundation for everyone to thrive regardless of personal creed,” the guest lecturer stressed, urging Muslims to embody discipline, tolerance, and responsibility in their daily conduct.
